Love From Afar

Danielle and Billy were an absolute joy to work with. It is not often that I have the opportunity to capture a love so strong and so precious, but I’m so excited I had the opportunity to do this with this gorgeous couple, and soon-to-be family!

Danielle more recently found out she was pregnant! She knew she wanted to do maternity portraits, but wasn’t sure how she could squeeze them in before her husband, Billy, went on deployment. Since his deployment is half a year long, she knew she would not have time to capture this celebration together, as their baby will be born by the time he returns.

So this couple got creative. Danielle flew down from Seattle to Texas to meet her husband at his base here. She was in a rush to find someone who could capture their memories so last minute as she was only here a couple days. I’m so honored they chose me to do their pre-deployment maternity portraits!

Our Prop Maternity Session

Usually maternity sessions are done around 32 weeks, but obviously this couple didn’t get to have that option. So instead we emphasized their announcement by using various props. We thought it would be an awesome idea to use baby shoes to show that she was expecting. Since they haven’t found out the gender of their baby quite yet, we used black and white baby shoes. We also took a few portraits with the couple holding their sonogram.

During their pre-deployment maternity session, Billy wore his uniform. I thought this was a great way to tell their story! There’s just something so classic and tear-jerking about him in his uniform kissing his wife before he leaves his little family for deployment.

We visited Brushy Creek Park, but this time there were bluebonnets! I have had many requests to capture the bluebonnets as they are starting to really pop in the area. We captured some great portraits in the bluebonnet field as the sun went down behind the beautiful little family.
