Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love when I walk into a wedding and see gorgeous floral decorations galore and venues that blow my mind. But you know what else blows my mind? The beauty of nature in small and intimate weddings.
Nick and Emily actually aren’t from the Austin, Texas area. They drove down from Oklahoma City just to elope in the most gorgeous park in Austin. Lake Austin is an absolutely gorgeous lake right in downtown Austin. The couple’s awesome coordinator, Sarah, suggested getting hitched at Lou Neff Point, right in Zilker Park. It features gorgeous Lake Austin filled with kayaking fun, while giving jaw-dropping views of city skylines.
This gorgeous couple wanted something small and intimate, so that’s what they did! They ran away to Austin because they love our city so much! They didn’t want to worry about wedding planning or messing with all of the wedding details. Instead they wanted something special and small just between the two of them. And that is how their Lake Austin elopement came about!
They did, however, bring a little surprise! Max, who was 21 months old at the time of their elopement, was such a treat to incorporate in their small and casual Lake Austin elopement. Considering his age, he was SO good during the entire wedding!
After they said their “I Do’s” Max decided it was time to party! He didn’t want to sit still for posed photos, so we got to run around and take some really awesome candid photos with the whole family. What a perfect way to celebrate this sunshine and love-filled day!
Just because this wedding was small doesn’t mean it wasn’t amazing! Nick and Emily wrote very special and intimate vows to each other that they read during the ceremony. They weren’t the traditional vows you usually hear during a ceremony, but instead words that came from their soul. In reciting their vows, tears were shed of the purest happiness. I have to admit, they weren’t the only ones that teared up.
Large and luxury, small and intimate – weddings are what keep me going. I love celebrating love and am so thankful to be a Lake Austin elopement photographer. Thank you, Emily and Nick, and congratulations!
