Hamilton Pool

When this sweet family called me last minute to schedule family photos at Hamilton Pool for a Raise Vegan magazine feature, I knew I couldn’t say no! I had only lived in Dripping Springs for about a year and still hadn’t made it to Hamilton Pool, so I was excited to say the least. Hamilton Pool is a gorgeous natural landmark outside Austin that draws visitors from all over the area during the swimming months. The spacious and circular rock formation that surrounds the pool is stunning and we knew it would be a great spot to take some family photos! After we finished at Hamilton Pool, we stopped in a neighborhood park close to Bee Cave for some beautiful family shots amongst the oak trees and green grass. It was a beautiful day and this family made this photography session so much fun!

What to wear for Austin family photography sessions

A lot of families ask me what to wear for family photography sessions. I usually say to wear lighter colors in the springs, more “fall” colors in the fall, and to avoid too many patterns or clashing colors. This family already knew what they would wear, and they did such a good job picking out outfits for their family photos. In all my years photographing families, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a family wear all white, and it worked so well! They all wore varying shades of whites and off-whites, with the material almost looking like a beach vibe. Their outfits looked great and it really brightened up the photos under the dark shade of the rocks at Hamilton Pool. In the park photos, their light outfits added to the spring and summer look they were going for.
