One of San Antonio’s best wedding venues, in my opinion, is Southwest School of Art! It is absolutely gorgeous, with an older and historic feel. Maria said it best when she said that the interior reminded her of a scene out of Harry Potter, with it’s big chandeliers, dim lighting, and stone walls. As you’ll see in these photos, you can’t go wrong having your wedding here!
Mike and Maria’s wedding started out at the Marriott Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio. Often times, hotel rooms where couples get ready for their big day can be a bit dark and cramped; not the rooms in this hotel! Maria and Mike requested larger rooms, and they were given beautiful and spacious rooms with lots of light, absolutely perfect for documenting the morning hours while they got dressed and ready for the ceremony! They chose not to have a first look and ended up seeing one another for the first time a few blocks away at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a stunning old church right in the heart of downtown San Antonio.
The McKay Art Museum is one of the most popular spots in San Antonio for married couples to stop by and take photos in between the ceremony and reception. It’s not hard to see why this spot has become such a hit! The museum makes a great backdrop for photos, and there are other attractions as well, including a fountain, lots of trees, and some artistic walls and sculptures. We got to the McKay Art Museum a little before sundown and were able to capture some pretty fall sunset lighting with the happy couple.
The Southwest School of Art ended up being the perfect place to host Mike and Maria’s many guests for the remainder of the evening. This group was full of energy and danced all the way until the glow-stick-send-off at midnight! Enjoy these photos of Mike and Maria’s wedding at the Southwest School of Art!
