Hotel Ella Engagement | Austin Wedding Photographer

I have photographed plenty of weddings at Hotel Ella, but doing a Hotel Ella engagement isn’t something I thought of until Breck and Tommy brought it up as an idea – and it was a good one! This beautiful old building has almost too many photo-worthy spots to utilize. They even let us into the bar area (to clarify, not behind the bar, but in front). This area is normally closed, so we were very excited!

This couple knows Austin inside and out, and they wanted a place that was fun, a little quirky, and represented Austin. After we were done at Hotel Ella, we headed downtown to Halcyon for some casual coffee photos with the cityscape in the background. This was one their regular spots, and it is so fun to photograph engaged Austin couples in coffee shops they frequently go. It makes the engagement session feel a little more familiar to them, a little more personal, and something they can look back on and smile.

For engagement photography, I love to go to more than one location if it is nearby and makes sense. Frequently I plan out two nearby locations with couples so that they can not only have a change of scenery, but can also change their outfits. Downtown Austin photography sessions with couples are some of my favorites, as this city is so vibrant, young, and fun!
