The Arlo in Dripping Springs is one of the hill country’s best new venues! As a wedding photographer, I absolutely love The Arlo for it’s modern and classy look amongst the laid-back feel of the hill country rolling hills and oak trees. The outside of the venue has a neat architectural feel that makes a great backdrop for brides and grooms getting married at The Arlo. Wedding photography also looks stunning on the west side of the building, where photographers can shoot the couples on the grand staircase outside of the building set against the setting sun.
The bride’s suite at The Arlo is perfect for wedding photographers in Austin! It is very big, with an entire area for bridesmaids to sit and do their hair and makeup and a big vanity countertop, with plenty of room for their bags. This is important, because as an Austin wedding photographer, I always have to clean up an area for the bride to put on her dress since it is a special moment to photograph and we don’t want lots of bags and miscellaneous items in the photos. This way everyone can put their things down far away from the mirrors, where the bride will put on her dress. There is also a separate area, also very clean and modern, with couches and a fireplace that is perfect to photograph the bride and bridesmaids opening champagne or lounging in their robes.
The groomsmen have their own separate little casita at The Arlo, just barely down the hill from the main building. I also love this as an Austin wedding photographer, because I am so used to having to either drive or walk very long distances between the main venue and the groomsmen’s house with all of my things. The extra time cuts into the time I could be photographing moments, so I really like The Arlo for weddings because it is easy to bounce between the bride and groom getting ready. The groom’s house is also really nice, with ample window light for photographers to work with, which is not very common at most Austin wedding venues! The groom and groomsmen can also go outside the back of the house easily for photos without having to worry about potentially seeing the bride.
One of the highlights about The Arlo is the big indoor chapel used for ceremonies. It is truly a stunning room, that can be easily adorned with florals and has big windows looking out onto the hill country. Austin is a location that is often way too hot to hold an outdoor ceremony so I really love this indoor chapel and I am sure the guests do as well!
There is a beautiful outdoor space with a groomed lawn that can be used for ceremonies or cocktail hour on days when it is not so hot. Since this wedding was a summer wedding, we used the space for sunset photos and it was beautiful. Lastly, the reception area is so pretty with grand chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. From a photographer’s perspective, this looks stunning in photos!
